tales.media Availability Report: September 2025

In September, we experienced one planed maintenance resulting in service downtime to tales.media services.

Planed Maintenance (2025-09-19 00:00 UTC – 2025-09-19 01:30 UTC)

To perform a major update of Opencast to version 18, Opencast services were taken down as planned. The downtime was kept to a minimum so all downtime took place in the planed maintenance window.

tales.media Availability Report: August 2025

In August, we experienced one incident resulting in service disruption to tales.media services.

Issues with login (2025-08-03 12:45 UTC – 2025-08-03 13:19 UTC)

Access to Opencast user interfaces was disrupted due to issues with the login. We identified a regression in the networking layer when updating to a newer version as the issue. The update was rolled back. A newer version that fixed the issue was rolled out mid-August.

Service Outage (2025-05-22 05:30 UTC – 2025-05-22 06:02 UTC)

A failed update to DNS server caches caused errors when resolving domain names. The update was rolled back.

In April, we experienced one incident resulting in service downtime to tales.media services.

Service Outage (2025-04-22 11:47 UTC – 2025-04-22 15:30 UTC)

An automated certificate rotation for the database was not properly coordinated with the database/Opencast. As a result, Opencast could no longer connect to the database resulting in an outage of Opencast services. This issue already appeared last month in March. Update (2025-05-12 18:55:00 UTC): A fix was rolled out that solved the underlying issue.
